About the project

The project “Implementation of innovative learning methods in using smart tachographs with the purpose of strengthening digitization and decarbonization processes” recognized the existence of a discrepancy between informal patterns of tachograph use by professional drivers and transport company staff that is present in most EU member states. Likewise, it recognized the need to provide professional drivers and staff of transport companies with the possibility of additional professional training to improve their knowledge and skills in the use of digital and smart tachographs. Moreover, it was determined that there is no quality training program in this area, based on which the representatives of the target group will be provided with the necessary professional skills so that they can perform their professional duties in an innovative, safe, and efficient way, harmonized with the highest EU driving standards and practices of using new technologies in traffic. The detected priorities of the project are new and innovative approaches to learning and training, as well as environmental sustainability. Accordingly, as part of the project, activities will be carried out that will contribute to the solution of existing problems and inconsistencies by creating an informal curriculum for vocational education and training, developing a webinar on the decarbonization of traffic, designing an interactive digital platform with accompanying e-learning and a virtual room, and conducting test trainings.
The duration of the project is 15 months, from March 1, 2022, until June 1, 2023.

The project is implemented in partnership with three organizations, namely Pučko otvoreno učilište AMC Nova Gradiška, Pannonia Consulting d.o.o. and Prometni Center Blisk d.o.o. The partnership was formed based on the experience, expertise, and implementation capabilities of the organizations. The goal of such a partnership is to provide added value, that is, the potential for capacity building and knowledge exchange at the inter-regional level, as well as responding to the needs of the target groups.

Target groups

The target groups of the project are divided into three categories:

Professional drivers as direct participants in road traffic who have not been provided with adequate, quality, and comprehensive vocational education and training for the use of digital and smart tachographs.
Transport companies and their staff that need to be directed into new, improved systems of assistance in road traffic and transport in order to achieve a higher level of logistics services they provide.
Providers of vocational education and training services in road traffic, i.e. instructors and experts without and with knowledge in the area of using new generation tachographs.

Project objectives

  1. Develop an informal micro-qualification curriculum for professional drivers in the area of using new generation tachographs.
  2. Create an innovative digital platform “DriveLab”.
  3. Improve the capabilities of partner organizations and strengthen partnerships with stakeholders that operate in the field of developing vocational training programs for professional drivers.
  4. Promote environmental sustainability in accordance with EU policies.

Project results

  1. Created an informal training program for professional drivers in the area of using new generation tachographs, which will indirectly increase the number of professionally trained professional drivers who will be able to use the services of digital and smart tachographs to fulfill their obligations such as to record and store data about their work activities based on the newly created curriculum.
  2. Created digital platform “DriveLab”, which will contain all materials created during project activities, and an e-learning education program in the field of using digital and smart tachographs for professional drivers, thus enabling remote learning for professional drivers.
  3. Strengthened transnational dimension of partnership.
  4. All products of this project are available in digital format, which will contribute to the achievement of the goals defined by the European Green Deal.
  5. Developed the “DeCarbo Traffic” webinar as an added value to the digital platform, showing ways and methods of how smart planning of transport systems and increased efficiency in traffic management can significantly reduce the amount of CO2 gas emissions in freight transport.
  6. Formed the European informal network of institutions for adult education and key stakeholders in the transport sector with the aim of disseminating project results.
